XR6 Build Project

Ok, so one of my mates recently picked up a Ex Taxi Chassis for $200
and also picked up a stat write off XR6 for $1600

Both are 07 BF's

Over the past week we stripped the Write off and put all the parts onto the ex Taxi Chassis, After a respray and alot of labour ( all done ourselves ) we came out with a XR6 Registered that is completely legal, Looks like a XR6 is a XR6 except the chassis is from a ex Taxi. I dont have any pictures of the stripped XR6 or the complete project but i will take some photos and update the thread

Was a lot of work, But is definitely worth it for him, I wish i had thought of it before i got my VT

He basically got a 07 XR6 for 3K ( towing + Chassis + write off + blue slip ) it does help that we have complete unlimited access to a workshop and everything.

I am actually looking at picking up a VX SS around $600 - $1000 for a mint stat write off and stripping it, then when i get off my P Plates dropping the V8 into my current chassis + getting one with a manual box and dropping that in ASAP ( over auto ) and taking leather seats and all the lil goodies haha.

If your patient and have time it pays off in the end for sure

There exactly the same then, The we were both under the impression it was a BF LoL. Obviously we dont know our Fords

Is the written off car only damaged where we can see in that pic? If so, it's hard to believe it would have been written off.

So the chassis was bent a little bit at the rear and also a panel beater looked at the it before my mate purchased it and said if insurance wanted to repair that it would cost them 7k +
( Pulling chassis, Replacing Rear quartre ( Lots of cutting and welding ) Replacing rear bumper, Replacing shocks, Replacing rims, replacing the hub ect ect the list goes on

Good effort i say.. BA or BF still looks good and obviously alot of hard work has gone into it which i can respect Congrats but only thing i dislike is you could of picked a better colour to paint it like that phantom purple or something… Green looks ok but there are much better colours.. Got to imagine that it wouldn't have been cheap for someone that didn't have access to a pair and panel (as mentioned) shop though?
Paint and engine removal alone would have been more than double your cost, nice job though dude.

I would love to have seen the XR6 running gear in the taxi shell with it still looking like a taxi .

(I reckon it's a nice job too.)
