"Make sure your steering wheel is centered" (or thereabouts)
then drain the oil at the rack,
Mark/tag one of the lines with something,
And have plenty of rags on hand, because its a messy job, or a oil dish to place under the lines when removed.
being its the bottom of the car,
"oil loves gravity" !
Remove the Tie-rod ends,
Remove the rack bolts.

Clean the mounting surfaces up, and bolts, so its a cleaner job to fit the replacement.

Will try and watch some videos tonight. Hopefully there is one for the VE or similar.

Hi Lex, on those bolts in the first photo?? They look like banjo bolts. I stuffed up the washer yesterday and made some mods to stop the leak. Luckily when i was looking at the donner car i saw a washed in there!
They are only "Copper Washers/Seals',
Not sure how you damaged it ?
Unless you bent it.

Hi guys please have a look at the video below and tell me if this is what cause the steering wheel to be stiff. I jacked the front of the car and when turning the wheels left to right realised the struts top is moving. Is this normal??

That seems ok. They aren’t turning as well which is what I thought was going on. It’s normal to expect some movement as the rack ends push and pull with the car off the ground.

Is it easy to turn with the front up off the ground?

Yes, very easy. Please tell me they are the culprit as i replaced an order as soon as you replied earlier today.

Shouldn't creak and groan like that. Check the bearings in the strut tops.
