factory 4 wheel disk had nothing to do with 253/308 v8 enginesAre you sure about that?If any 253 commodores had drums on the back it would be only a few hundred vb's all the vc 253 commodores I ever remember seeing had disks on the rear with the small diff.
factory 4 wheel disk were 8VX plated models whether they where 6 cyl or v8
factory rear drum brakes came in 8VK/8VL plated models
The models that had 4 wheel disk non standard factory for models were factory allowed "options" for rear disk especially the 308 V8's.
I think you are getting confused with diff size and thinking 253 came out with 10 bolt diffs like the 308 had and so would be 4 wheel disk. Most 253 engine cars unless "optioned" would have had the small 6cyl 8 bolt diff with rear drum brakes.
