Hi
New project coming up. My a/c isn't working. I've been given climate control, wiring loom, basically everything, but no bcm. It has come out of a sedan.
Do l need a wagon bcm (for rear wiper?) or will a sedan lux or high work.

Hope to finish pulling it out tomorrow.

Also asked a guy l know, who has a Snap On scan tool if he can link pcm to bcm. He thinks he can, but not certain.
I think the tool runs win xp?

Any other tips for installing?
And yes l know its a big job.

I'm a pensioner. So gives me something to do.
It also means l'll be walking to the shops, once l start the install. HAHA. (It'll take me more than a couple of days to do it).

Thanks in advance, for any help anyone is able to give.

I'm pretty sure that climate control is not controlled by the BCM but by the climate control panel. I could be wrong but my manual states what is controlled by the different BCM levels and climate control is not mentioned. A/C is mentioned and that is controlled by the lowest level BCM.

Correct but from memory when i did our calais sedan strip and fit into a vt wagon you had to use the bcm from the calais as the looms are different at the bcm and the low level bcm doesn't accept the loom from the climate wiring. I remember reading on here of a couple of people working through it and getting it to work off relays or something but cant remember.

Ours was a lux bcm but couldnt control rear wiper from memory.

Good luck with the conversion

Rear wiper control can be turned on with a tech2 in the BCM program options.

Hi
Thanks for replies.
I was thinking of using Berlina wagon bcm, if i can get one.
Good to know that rear wiper can be enabled in BCM program options.

I finished pulling out the wiring loom & climate control today. What a nightmare.
I think l'll be walking to the shops for a lot longer than a couple of days when it comes to the installation. HaHa.

I'll get some new parts as o rings, drier/receiver, & tx valve?
There is something under the compressor, not sure what that is called. Anything else l need?

I also not sure if the tech 2 works on the vt v6 s1? Correct me if l'm wrong.
Maybe its obd 2 scan tools l'm thinking of?

Thanks for any help people are able to give.

Hi
I have climate control unit & wiring loom.
I've been quoted about $30. for drier receiver & tx valve o rings.
Quoted to link pcm to bcm & gas her up $225. (link pcm-bcm. $125. $100. for gas.)
Maybe $40. - $50. for a lux 814 bcm. + key head.
Total $ 305.00 for climate control upgrade?
That's if Murphy doesn't put in an appearance in?
Fair price?
What are other peoples opinion?
Thanks Lex

Hi
I finally finished the climate control upgrade. Started disassembling the old wagon last Fri. about 2. pm. Finished today, well actually yesterday morning. Made a few mistakes, like putting the + cable to earth, instead 60 amp fuse in the relay box, near the battery in engine bay.
Guy with scan tool turned up to link pcm - bcm. I hadn't hooked the battery up yet. When l did sparks every where. So he took off to let me sort it out, which was pretty quick. Had to replace 60 amp fuse. It blew.
Never heard from scan guy, after numerous sms & calls.
I didn't know if he was coming today or not. He did (left his phone in car during the day & last night). He turned up this morning, & linked pcm - bcm, no problem there.
I also installed passenger airbag & module, but he was unable to configure them, so l get air bag light when starting.

On aircon side l replaced most o rings from evaporator 1, tx valve 4, receiver drier 2 & 2 on compressor pipes. I had also bought a pressure valve for compressor, but was unable to locate it. With tools l had, l wasn't able to even disconnect it. (What size are they?anybody know?).
Took car down to get it regassed. No problems so far, (with regas). The guy who regassed it, tested with thermometer. It came down in temperature, to 7.8 cel. He said if they come down to 10 cel. your doing well. I'll report back if it leaks out.
There are other problem(s), such as won't start, but if l lock it unlock it, it'll start.
I checked error codes, 92 engine low speed fan. It's either wiring or relay. I think, wiring.
Tomorrow is another day. I'm pretty happy.
I used a lux 814 bcm. Rear wipers worked without doing anything.
Cost
Climate control $ 0.
Wiring loom $ 0.
Airbag & module. $ 0.
Lux bcm $ 45.
Pcm - Bcm link $ 70.
Regas $135.
Receiver drier $ 20.99
O rings $ 20.?
Compressor valve$ 42.
Total $333.

Hi
It's been nearly 5 weeks now since the ecc conversion.
It seems to work well. Maybe not perfect? I've never had ecc before, or aircon. so really don't know what to expect. Not sure what the right word is. I think air manifold may have some leaks in it? Not sure?

Regardless, l'm pretty happy with it.
All the best for a new year
Lex
