Hi all

Newbie to forum, but have done plenty of reading before signing up here.

Recently bought myself a 05 WL caprice for a nice price. I have wanted one of these for ages so getting one has made me a happy chappy.

I've already thrown a set of 20" advanti's on and have plans for some bigger brakes and a killer stereo to be installed in the very near future. Anyway enough chit chat here's a couple of pics

Thanks man, took about a years worth of saving to get it. I like having a different ride to all the other P platers out there, I love the looks I get in it too.

Hoping yo get the stereo installed just before christmas.
2 sets of MTX splits
Dynmat the doors and boot
Pioneer head unit (newest model)
2 Kicker L7 12" Subs

Then I can go about getting bigger brakes to fill the gap inside the 20's

Lol I wanted a WB Statesman when I was on my P's.

Are you going to do anything to it?

Performance wise not really because I'd rather put the money into building a decent v8 for it, I know there is plenty of hot sixes out there but there just not the same as a 8

My advice, considering it is your first car. Make the decision if you wish to keep this one or sell it once you're on your full licence for a V8. If you decide to keep this, use these years to get accustomed to the car and how it comes apart/works.

Only do changes to improve ride quality for example; suspension, stereo, interior, wheels etc. Depending on your budget. Don't do stuff for the sake of doing it. Do your research and just learn. Lots of reading and videos out there to help you. The more you learn to do yourself (properly) the more you can save and the better it feels. By properly I mean do the research, ask the right questions and don't do dodgey half-arsed repairs. Buy the Gregory's Manual from Supercheap for your car, about $50, it is well well worth it.

If you want opinions, KEEP IT! Looks so tidy. And depending on how many KMs are on it, doesn't look like it needs to much work.

I totally agree with Gaiter with this. Replace parts & trim that are worn. If you're doing any mods, do tasteful, sympathetic ones so if you do sell it down the track, you wont lose on it. I'm sure once you're off your P's you may want a V8 and any money saved will get you what you want.

My first car was a horrible dark green HQ wagon that had more hits than Elvis in all the panels, three on the tree with bench seats. I took it everywhere on surfing trips with my mates. All the boards were loaded into the HQ as it had the room. The only real mod I did to it was replace the entire dashboard with one from a HJ as I was getting sick of the air vent making noises when you hit 60kph.
