Hey guys I had my vz calais gear box serviced 7 weeks ago I now can't get reverse and all gears just want to go forward. It's coming up with shift solanoid c stuck on. Fault L041 I'm sure Even when I put it in neutral it still feels like its in gear I've spent about 6500 this year at the same mechanic. I had a full service on it Feb 22. And replaced the trans leak it had. Then I had a full service in Oct 22 had the same leaks selector shaft seal and gear box housing seal is it normal for them to only last 7 months. I wouldn't have thought so. Just wondering if the mechanic is pulling the piss or is just ****. I'm in mandurah WA. Any advice would be great. Cheers guys

And does anyone know a trust worthy mechanic in mandurah who could diagnose the problem and I'll get him to do my servicing cheers

My Commodore from way back did exactly your problem with proper service.
They need a full rebuild.
Your lucky you have forward gears or it would be a tow job.
Take it to an auto gearbox specialist.

I guess it’s done 200,000 plus kms.
PITA I know, but things stop working.

The go to place in Perth is Transmissions-R-Us in Balcatta, so I have been told by a few shops when ours needed work done again.

Just thought of another option. Give the guys at Allfast a quick call and ask who they would get to do the work.

They are busy. Don’t tie them up with detailed stories etc. they focus on torque converters and yes they do build the odd transmission, but high end stuff.

Who would they trust to take a look at a faulty transmission that just might need a rebuild. They might know someone south of the river too?

I know you are in Mandurah but you’ll have to travel to get the job done well.

It may well be a rooted solenoid or something repairable if you get lucky.

If you are on a budget and just want a second hand tranny (that’s what He said) then get in touch with Just Commodores in Kenwick (?). They can do it for you in their workshop.

Cheers fu Manchu. Appreciate it mate I will call them tmoz I was trying to get a brand new one but I'm happy to get it rebuilt. Just pi**** as I hadn't had any trouble with it got it serviced 6 weeks later it's not going into gear. But fingers crossed it's just a solanoid or a blockage as the mechanic didn't replace the filter in the gear box
