knock sensor removal tips

Hilux LN110R with Vx ecotec using VP11 electrics
hi brains trust.

my V6 has a siezed knock sensor, outer section .

inner section, that has the nut and plug etc turns in the outer.

any suggestions on removal appreciated

Bugger. Not much room to move there either. If it’s turning inside itself it’s stuffed so you can have a go at trying to crimp the edges with a cold chisel to regrip the threaded sections. The other option might be to hammer a large socket onto it but space is limited from underneath and that may not be feasible.

Other options if this doesn’t work are to weld a nut onto it, use an ezy-out, etc but you’ll have to jack the engine a bit to get some clearance.

Google the sensor on eBay and you’ll get some good images of the sensor so you can work something out.

If you can get a pair if vice-grips in there, or a Plumbers Pair of Foot Prints [old school name] they will get it out.
