I've just renovated my garage with a full electrical rewire including 3 phase 5 pin plug for 22 Kw charging and a 1 phase 15 amp plug for 7 kw. Just for future proofing.

Now you can buy a 3 phase lathe and mill instead of a car :)

Already run a plasma cutter off the 15 amp.

These two piss heads down at the local were full blowen having a massive argument over EV charging.
One guy was talking about his daughters EV and how she just plugs it into a power point, the other guy was saying you need to charge with a big charger.
I tried to explain to them that there is two different charging systems, it fell on death ears.

Don’t stress @shane_3800, you still have time to retrain and upskill. You know EVs are on the way in - whether you like it or not.

Starting a thread like this is a bit like starting an anti-car thread when cars started to take over from horses. I’m sure heaps of people had some anti-car arguments at the time.

It's not an anti EV thread.
The push for EV adoption is a political one, so I talk about that in the political thread.
This is purely about EV cars and the challenges that we need to face with them.

I'm moving into heavy diesel, I will stay with that until I get into a government utility company. I was about to do the EV course at my old work, but I left a couple of months out from the course, which got rescheduled mind you. I don't think I will see many EVs in the back half of my career.
I have worked on a few before there were courses, I had to move stuff to get to other parts.
I don't think I really need the extra cert imo, but if I do I will get it.

EV owners and drivers all have deaf ears.
More fires, more damage,
EV fires everywhere,
They have already destroyed people property,
Wait until someone is burnt to death,
See how that hits the head lines.

Why do think some car rental companies are ditching Tesla’s and EV’s
Because they got hood winked on cost and time saving,
What a load of BS they had injected into their brains.

You just can’t fix stupid.

Sorry, but I'm just not seeing a massive amount of EV fires.
Yea they happen, but I haven't seen much evidence in Australia that EV's are catching fire more than they should.
Yes there's lots of E bike fires, but there is probably reasons for that.

And that’s the first car in-line !
What about the people behind him,
When the power is low, you really don’t have a choice but to wait.
Australia has had a massive increase in EVs in the space of about 2 years so it’s hardly surprising that charging infrastructure hasn’t kept up.

Realistically most EV owners should be charging at home and if they don’t have the space/capacity to charge at home then they haven’t thought out their purchase of an EV very well.
