I was up in Brissy for work the other week, and I was lucky enough to find a WM Statesman as the next taxi off the rank at the airport. It appeared to drive nicely, except for a minor clunk into 5th. I got to talking to the driver who had been driving the car since new. It was a 2007 V6 Statesman on gas with 560,000 km on it!!! I asked him if anything other than usual wear and tear items had gone wrong with it, and he said that nothing major had gone wrong except that it had two transmission rebuilds, but this was normal for a taxi because drivers were always throwing them into reverse to catch flagdown fares.

Man, if mine lasts 560,000 km without anything major going wrong, I'd be happy!!

wow my statesman has a very very long way to go to get to those kind of kms.

I only just hit 45,000km on it and its only 4 years old

Last taxi I was in the gearbox clunked so bad from 1st to 2nd it felt like someone had thumped you in the chest with a cricket bat.

A trans rebuild every quarter of a million kays for a Taxi - I'd consider that acceptable.

There's a few V6 VE Stato taxi's running around Sydney. I've been in a few with more than 250,000 k's on the clock and all ran smoothly. Even asked them about it and they'll all said one thing "regular servicing"......
