- VS commodore Ute 355 manual
hey guys thought I’d put up about my ute
Got it as a blown up V6 auto with lsd
Cleaned it up removed a heap of stuff including motor and trans
Already had 304 and T5 gearbox from my old VN BT1
Got the block machined to 40’ and line bored 2bolt studs with steel stud girdle. I did cam bearing oil mod getting Fed from the front bearing instead of the main bearing
Clearances and preped the block myself
Got the scat crank and hbeam rods srp forged Chev pistons and yellaterra ultralight flywheel balanced
Assembled it all myself
Vn Heads were ported by Tony knight and did a awsum job with 2.02 and 1.9 valves
Running crane f288 solid cam
Crane rockers and offset orifice lifters
Standard jp oil pump ported and modded with external pickup in sump
-12 valley and rockercover breathers to perterson catchcan
Runs 11.5:1 comp on98ulp timing locked at 26deg (detuned for street)
Holley hp 950carb
Torque power duelplane high rise manifold with 1” spacer
MSD dissy coil and ignition module
Runs pwr radiator with BF single thermofan and shroud
Made 509hp at 6800rpm at 32deg timing where it hit the msd limiter didn’t have modded oil system then and were having bad oil problems so canned it there
I think with e85 some more timing and 7000 rpm should go close to 550hp
T5 gearbox rebuilt with new synchros and bearings done my self
exhaust is 1 3/4" tri y pacys with modded end into 2.5" outlets (larger than standard) with full twin 3" exhaust made by me x merg 2 stainless mufflers and 2 hotdog style mufflers with quad tips
330mm slotted brakes with front twin piston Caliper and 315mm rears slotted also
K-sport coilover kit all round
19x8.5” rims all round
Car is fully vinyl wrapped
Not a show car drive it to work quiet regularly
