In SA (and most states I believe). It doesn't matter who owns the car drunk or hoon driving will have it impounded/destroyed regardless of the owner.
That’s definitely the case in WA as one doctor found out many years ago.
The doc had his new Porsche serviced where the young apprentice thought taking it out for a Fang was a good idea. Unfortunately the apprentice was intercepted by police while driving way way too fast so the apprentice lost his licence on the spot and the police arranged for the car to be impounded.
Then the doctor had to go to court to get his car released from impound.
Its sad when the laws also punish people who’ve done nothing wrong

It wasn’t a Porsche, it was a Lamborghin…
He wasn't driving, he wasn't even in the car, but a Perth doctor says his yellow Lamborghini has taken him down the highway to hell.

A motor mechanic in Perth has denied allegations that he was road testing a Lamborghini Gallardo on public roads at more than 160km/h. The mechanic has pleaded not guilty in court, saying he was doing 130km/h at the most.
