Will an ECU from a VR 5L auto work in my VS SS series 2? I managed to source one from a Wreckers, I'm getting different answers and some saying Memcal will need to be changed others saying you don't need to do ,that it should just plug in an play. Any help really appreciate Fellas,cheers

I Isn't the memcal actually within the ECU? The guy at the wreckers I got the ECU from recon it should work plug in and play. Most other people iv spoken with say it should work, others have said may not. Iv also read the VS has a knock sensor and the VR didn't so not sure if something like...

UPDATE- Just got my car back from auto Electrician, as mentioned earlier, Speedo cluster repaired as it was faulty, Speedo sensor also replaced as it was faulty. All wiring checked, the Pins of the Plugs cluster goes into checked are all good. He's convinced it's the ECU that's the issue, also...

I didn't even think if the alternator it very well could be that, I'll find out Friday anyway, hopefully it's not too expensive to fix.

The car starts and drives but even after u reset the ECU by removing the battery terminals it usually will start playing up again especially when u go from park to reverse. So whats the worst case scenario here u recon, cooked ECU or could be worse?
