If a manual, check the reverse switch on the gearbox. My shorted out and blew the reverse light fuse (which the indicators use the same fuse). Best way to check is to get underneath and use a paper clip (are wire) to bridge the terminals and if the reverse lights work.. the switch is Foobarred...

Yes you can, you will need to use VS set-up or VR... only difference is seatbelt colour; VR black, VS grey. Seatbelts, height adjust bracket and B-pillar covers all bolt in.
AFAIK.. VL and VN power assisted racks are the same... But the pipes where routed differently, whether its RB30, V6 or V8.
For the record ...VNs never had the variable-assisted rack.. It was on VP Calais.
