You would think so but governments seem to have lost interest. On current prices it would need to be about 4c/l cheaper than 91 to make economic sense.
It's interesting that other states never followed Qld and NSW with a mandate. Even in those states 91 far outsells E10. Sales of E10 have been declining over the years. Even in Qld and NSW it is not being promoted. Promotion of flex fuel cars peaked with the VE.
Can't see E10 becoming the default fuel. Very few people are actually buying it. It has become less and less price competitive over time. 91 will need to be kept for less sophisticated engines, lawn mowers etc.
The flex fuel engines can run e10 or e85 but no benefit in running e85 due to cost. E10 is cheaper than 91 per litre but will use a bit more than 91 octane. Absolutely no benefit in running 95 or 98 in a standard engine. It is just petrol company hype and will just cost more.
I'm a big fan of the 3L engine. A bit down on power compared to the 3.6 but a lot smoother and revier. Economy is not a lot better than 3.6 around town but fantastic on a long trip
Probably about the fairest result the stewards could come up with under the circumstances. Feel a bit sorry for Fabs but also unfair that those he held up didn't get a fair chance.
