Cool thanks for that, so sounds like you put in 4.2-4.3L in total? That tallies with everything I've read which says they take between 4 to 4.4L.

Yeah no idea how to tell them apart visually. There's probably a way, but they were also fitted to a lot of American GM vehicles - perhaps there were slight differences in the casings for different makes/models of car?
Yeah everything I've been able to find seems to suggest early VEs had the T56, and later ones had the TR6060. Regarding annoying characteristics, the T56 is known for notchy gear shifts and mine certainly exhibits that, hence my desire to replace the crappy old ATF with Penrite 70-75 Pro Gear...
