My son's S11 VE (LLT engine) got to 250,000 km and started to throw a timing chain code every now and then. Use the genuine AC Delco kit. It's worth the extra money for kit quality and peace of mind.

Update. We picked up the car this afternoon, now fitted with a brand new auto transmission. Time to find a holiday destination for a test drive!

Same thing. Sorry if I was being a bit sloppy in my terminology. And yes, I agree with you. Modern auto transmissions are often thought of as "sealed for life". I think a checkup and fluid change at intervals is not bad insurance.
