Yeah, I have one of those and the one time I've ever used it I realised just how ridiculous they are. I was broken down, at night, on the side of the Princes Freeway in Werribee. If you're doing 100km/h at 1am on a stretch of road with no street lights, you're not going to spot a skinny 30cm tall triangle with a big hole through the middle of it that's sitting a good metre below eye level. I had to wait 5 hours to be rescued and I wasn't relying on that little thing to save me from being rear-ended... do you have any idea how hard it is to sleep in a car with the hazard lights ticking constantly?
You can get emergency triangles now that light up, flash, are rechargeable, can be used as a torch, have a solar panel and double as a power bank for less than $17, but I still think there needs to be a way to sit them at eye level somehow.
